About
ART as a Univerasl Language
"Charms, are what I sometimes think of my most recent, non-traditionally shaped works. Art that is bold and familiar.
Creating works of glitter on canvas since 2001, a fascination for nautical flags of childhood familiar, growing up on Lake Michigan, developed and evolved into a study of symbols, ancient history and universal truths, and how we majorly see and interpret light and color and shape in conjunction with communicating and emotion"
Statement
Through layers of Glitter, Plastic, Mylar, and Paint, under resin, I create minimalistic, non-representational abstractions, using universal shapes through the power of color.
Works created on Canvas, Wood Panel, or Wood are coated in layers of my evolving blend of Space Glitter, which is mixed and kept in a reclaimed Tidy Cats container; covered in resin, the work offers high-gloss sheen.
Films and Mylar are most oftentimes incorporated as well.
Ancient and Archaic (and sometimes Modern) symbols, writings, art, and their meanings, are influenced, absorbed, and reflected in my work. I am inspired and intrigued by shapes, symbols, and their meanings that have founded, remained and endured time. That which continues to be a part of us today, rooted in our species, fascinates. A belief in infinite possibilities, has led me to look through our stratosphere to the stars, thus transmitting or suggesting a relatable cosmic mood. Nature.
Work is created to promote beauty, positivity and forward; expansion and connectedness. An experiential, contemplative glamour is offered to the viewer. a mindful transformation.
